The Grand Finale of the Otunba Kazeem Olayemi Odeyeyiwa Akoraye Day Academic Competition, held as part of the 39th Akoraye Day Celebration, took place today at the Modakeke Civic Centre. The event showcased the academic brilliance and diverse talents of Modakeke pupils and students, drawing an impressive audience of dignitaries, educators, and community leaders, reaffirming the community’s commitment to academic excellence and youth development.

The day began with the final stage of the Spelling Bee Competition, which featured 19 outstanding pupils competing for the top spot. After a fiercely contested round, Olojede Bamidupe from St. Timothy Model Academy emerged as the Best Speller and Champion. Olaopa Bolaji of Omotola Frontline School clinched the 1st runner-up position, while Amos Sunday from Peak Way Nursery and Primary School secured 2nd runner-up.

The Quiz Competition witnessed exceptional teamwork and intellect, with Best Foundation Comprehensive College, represented by Odewale Opeyemi and Adeyanju Peter, claiming the top prize. Anti-Phobia Model College, represented by Mufutaudeen Abdulsomod and Adeboye Michael, earned the 1st runner-up spot, while Holy Spirit Catholic High School, represented by Adesiyan Goodluck and Adegbola Marvelous, came in as 2nd runner-up.

The Talent Hunt Competition showcased creativity and skill, with Alaaya Abdulsalam of A&B Schools winning first place. Adekunle Israel of Excel Intervention Schools was the 1st runner-up, while Adekanye Omolara of A&B Schools took the 2nd runner-up position.

Gifts were presented to all winners, honouring their exceptional performances and dedication. The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Alhaji Akinlabi Akinwale, National Vice President of the Modakeke Progressive Union; Dr. Odunola Ayoola, CWC Secretary of the 2024 Akoraye Day Celebration; Mrs. E.O. Ayanfe, Representative of the Ministry of Education; and Barr. Olabode Oladapo. Other members of the Akoraye Day Organising Team were also in attendance, ensuring the event’s success.

Guests at the event commended the organizers for prioritizing education and nurturing young talents. The competition not only celebrated academic and creative talents but also inspired a spirit of healthy competition and excellence among the students. It reflects the overarching theme of the Akoraye Day Celebration, which emphasizes unity, progress, and the development of Modakeke.
