As part of the ongoing 39th Akoraye Day Celebration, the people of Modakeke came together this morning for the annual “Walk to Live” exercise, a health and fitness initiative aimed at promoting wellness, unity, and community spirit.

The walk, which began and ended at the Ogunsua’s Palace, saw participants trekking through key areas of the town, including Oke-Amola, Boosa, Iraye, Oke D.O, Our Lady’s Junction, Itaasin, and Itamerin. The route was a lively scene of camaraderie, with residents of all ages joining the event.

The exercise was led by the Ogunsua of Modakeke, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Joseph Olubiyi Toriola, who emphasized the importance of health and unity in his opening remarks. Accompanying him was the National President of the Modakeke Progressive Union (MPU), Professor Peter Olawuni, along with other dignitaries from the community, whose presence inspired enthusiastic participation.

“It’s a privilege to lead this symbolic walk with my people. It not only reminds us of the importance of health but also strengthens the bond within our community,” Oba Toriola said.

Participants described the event as rewarding and enjoyable, noting the opportunity to reconnect with one another while prioritizing physical wellness, alongside cultural and developmental goals. “This walk goes beyond fitness; it’s a way to unite our community and celebrate the values that Akoraye Day stands for,” a participant shared.

The “Walk to Live” exercise is one of several activities scheduled for the 39th Akoraye Day Celebration, reflecting Modakeke’s commitment to fostering holistic development and community well-being.

The 39th Akoraye Day Celebration continues with more exciting events, including the trade exhibition and Hours of Praise scheduled for later today.
